Have you ever wondered if a 7 colors sea existed? Are you wondering how to get to San Andres Island in Colombia? A full travel blog with all the details explained here!

A bit of info about San Andres: San Andres is part of some small Islands that belong to Colombia even though geographically almost 800 kilometres from mainland Colombia, the islands are closer to Nicaragua. For this reason, San Andres is a duty-free zone which make it great for shopping but beware because this island is getting more and more famous so prices tend to rise up.
“There is more treasure in books than in all the pirate's loot on Treasure Island.” Walt Disney
If you’re looking for a piece of white sandy paradise in Colombia look no more than in San Andres. the island boasts some of the country’s best beaches surrounded by beautiful crystal-clear waters.

As a Colombian myself it was very usual to go on holidays to San Andres Islands or at least for every family in Colombia. One of the highlights of the islands is that there are a #sevencoloredsea and a #PirateMorgan cave.
San Andres islands were the place where the so-called Pirate Morgan used to hold his central command for his activities in the Caribbean Sea, there's a spot in the island dedicated to explaining his story as a pirate.

Despite being a Colombian territory, the local culture is not really related to Colombia but rather Caribbean culture. In fact, the molding of the island's root culture comes from Africans, Britons, Scots, Dutch, Irish, French, Spanish and Colombians.
How to get there?
The only way to go there from Colombia is by plane, Flights are available from most major cities in Colombia but I suggest trying VivaColombia a cheap local airline. International flights are limited but are available from Panama or Nicaragua. From San Andres airport you’ll need to catch a taxi or a tuk tuk to your accommodation.
San Andres Tourist Card
Before boarding your flight from Colombia you’ll need to pay for a tourist card 37 USD. So make sure to have some cash available to cover the cost. Without the tourist card, you won’t be able to board your flight. Important: Keep the card safe during your stay in the island, as you’ll need to present it at the airport before departing the island (This way they can check how many people actually stay in the Island).
Things to do in San Andres Islands
We had an incredible experience. From driving over the sea with a water-bike that runs at more than 50km per hour (hold tight to it so you don't fall). To renting an E-Car to recover all the Island which is pretty small and you can do it in just one day.

Now let's talk about the existence of the sea of seven colors is not questioned when through the window of the plane that is about to land on the island of San Andres, Colombia is observed the range of tones of the sea, which in this corner of the Caribbean goes from deep blue to translucent aquamarine green. This wide variety of shades contribute to coral reefs.
The Aquarium, also known as Rose Cay, is a key surrounded by a coral reef and full of colorful fish. It is an ideal place for lovers of snorkeling and marine life.
Johnny Cay
It's small island in the north of San Andrés famous for the white sandy beaches and palm trees. When traveling around the island it is imperative to visit Johnny Cay as its beaches are considered among the best in the world. You can reach Johnny Cay with a boat by hiring a tour for a fee of 4500 COP - 2 USD

Touring the Island
Renting a golf buggy to tour the island is so great a great experience and very cheap worth to mention. It’s a convenient way to visit a number of points of interest around San Andres
